We decorated 25 bags!

About our project: Instead of the grocery bags, my class created bookmarks. With a delay in motor skills it was simpler for my kids to color in all the white in a smaller space of a bookmark. I find some free templates online I simply print out on cardstock then cut the bookmarks out. After the coloring was completed I laminated them and we passed them out at our school library.

We decorated 334 bags!

About our project: Our school system began a Green School Initiative last year. Challenges are issued for every month. Earth Day is the focus for the month of April. As I researched for activities I found the Earth Day Groceries Project. It is a fabulous idea, totally a win-win! No waste, no extra production and it is just a smile on everyone's face when they see the art. We are so thankful for the partnership with Grand Central Apple Market! Thank you for this great project!!

We decorated 400 bags!

About our project: In addition to the home room Earth Day Bag Decorating Contest, we also purchased the rights to show the documentary "Plastic Paradise" in our school auditorium on Earth Day. A Bag Monster will be present at the screening to generate disgust and we will encourage students to sign a pledge.

We decorated 200 bags!

About our project: This is the second year our school has participated in this project. The students all love to decorate the bags with Earth Friendly messages. They also enjoyed making the parents go shopping and asking for paper instead of plastic to collect their artwork!
