View the bags from Send in One Bag 2004

Deadline:
Bags had to be received no later than June 10, 2004.

The Earth Day Groceries Project invited all participating organizations to send in one beautifully decorated bag in 2004 to be a permanent part of The Earth Day Groceries Project.  We asked for one bag that was "just too good" to return to the store, one that was "the" perfect example of the effort at a school, one that should be shared with the World....

(note: the deadline has passed to send in a bag for 2004, but if you're interested in learning more, keep reading...)

Purpose:
The Earth Day Groceries Project (a nonprofit, 501c3 organization) is building a collection of bags to be included as art to promote and spread the message of Earth Day.  Possible uses of the bags include:

  • A permanent traveling display, suitable for viewing at museums or conferences

  • A project calendar

  • A project screen saver

  • A project PowerPoint presentation

  • A CD to promote the Project and Earth Day

Promise:
The bag you send in WILL be used by the Project (assuming the artwork and writing is appropriate and does not contain copyrighted artwork - like a picture of Sponge Bob or Snoopy, for instance), and it will be seen by millions!

Procedure:
For now, start figuring out how you will select "the" bag.  Once the bag is selected and signatures are collected, send it in! A release form is below.  Please keep in mind a few things:

  • the bag will not be returned and will become the property of The Earth Day Groceries Project

  • the form will need to be signed by the student artist, a parent/guardian, and a school representative

  • the artist's first name will be included in the above-mentioned uses of the bag

Save or print out this page for future reference, and keep an eye out for one bag from your school that says it all!
