Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in Plainsboro, NJ

Prior to Earth Day, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) staff visited a local grocery store and collected twenty grocery bags. The bags were placed on a display in the PPPL lobby, and employees were invited to take them home and have their children in grades one through eight decorate them with their own environmental message. The bags and other items were displayed at PPPL during Earth Week and later at the Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA) Earth Day Celebration, held at the Sovereign Bank Arena, in Trenton NJ. About 930 people attended the event. Eighteen of the grocery bags and fifteen of the Earth Day Groceries Project Posters were picked up by guests. In past years, PPPL conducted poster contests with area middle schools. However this year was the first time the Laboratory participated in the Earth Day Groceries Project. We hope to participate again next year.
